The guy who survived inside the CAR TOYOTA VIOS CRUSHED by a bus on EDSA

Yesterday, you read about the hapless Toyota Vios pinned by two buses on EDSA in Quezon City. The impact was so severe that the small sedan was crushed underneath a Dela Rosa Transit bus. All that remained of the car looked every bit like a compacted sardine can. One look at the published photos and it was easy to conclude that there was no way the driver of the Vios could survive the horrific accident. Or at least there was no way he wouldn't lose a limb or be paralyzed.
Well, guess what: The driver, Marcelino Umalin Jr., is alive and well. And no, he didn't lose a limb. A former workmate of his sent us a photo (see below), and it's clear he's perfectly okay save for some bruises and what appear to be stitches in the head. In fact, according to the friend, Marcelino even managed to joke that the first photo taken of him shouldn't be sent to us because he didn't look good in it.
Anyway, we believe this is a good chance to commend the rescuers who extricated Marcelino from the wreckage. Excellent job, guys! Also, a tip of the hat should go to the engineers of Toyota. Yes, the damaged Vios looked awful. "Unsafe," said many observers. But hey, the driver got out in one piece. The Vios must have a pretty solid cabin design in terms of protecting its occupants.
Finally, whether you believe in Him or not, we just have to say that God rocks!
